” Just a couple of days to go and Rudy and I will be traveling to Bordeaux by train. Today I have one more training session to do, tomorrow I will rest, thursday we will travel and friday I will do some jogging and stretching. Hopefully I can end this hard season well. After the EC<23 in 2005 a lot of things have happened (injuries) and a good come back in 2007 was very welcome. Unfortunately I had to wait for this come back untill the meeting in Woerden. It has been a tough year, but it has made me stronger and I am very motivated to do the last competition and to train hard next winter.
Rudy has had a tough season as well and is looking forward to Talence. It will be his last competition of the season as well and we are looking foward to our holiday on Corsica (La Corse).
And Pelle tells me everyday how many nights we still have to sleep untill the start. He is so excited to compete, His msn frame bounces of the screen. We have spent some hours on msn finding the right music for the competition (all the athletes have their own tune) and we still have not decided what we want.
For me there is just one more thing to do before I go: the hairdresser. After I have been to the hairdresser everything will be fine. “

“After a pretty good trip with the Thalys (it is about time they finish the high speed rail in Holland, I’m sure it will be 1.5 hours faster) I arrived in Amiens. I will stay in France the next couple of weeks to prepare Talence. Joe will come over in the weekends and I will train with Jean Paul Bourdon (Rudy’s coach) during the week.
Yesterday I received the good news that I will start in Talence. I’m really looking forward to it. In 2005 and 2006 I couldn’t go because of unjuries, but I did watch the competition in 2005. It was a great meeting, but i’m sure it will be even better when I compete myself. I am still in pretty good shape, but some pretty hard sessions are planned in the next couple of days. I will be resting and studying besides the sessions. I started studying again after a period without motivation/concentration for it. Now I feel like working again, I’m making good progress.
We also started planning next winter/year. There will be some changes, but everything will be planned with the eyes on Beijing. I will keep you updated.”
“Yesterday I had to go to Vught (in the south of Holland) to compete in the interclubs. It was a competition which decided who stayed in the superleague and who relegated to first league. Even though I haven’t recovered very well from the heptathlon last week, the team leader managed to persuade me to run a 400.
I started with the 100m hurdles. It was a very bad race, because I was leaning backwards a lot instead of attacking the hurdles. But the most important thing for the team was that I won the race as we get points for place instead of result. One hour later I had to start the 400. I had seen the participants list and thought I would be able to win. Johan (our teamleader) said I shouldn’t push myself if it wasn’t necessary. So after 150m I already passed everyone and decided to release the gas and role ‘home’. i won the race in 58.21 and wasn’t very tired.
I finished the day with a 4×100 relay along with Carola, Kirsty and Nikki. The girls ran very well (I ran last leg), but I started to fast and had to stop to get the batton within the lines. Then i had to make up a 3m gap. I was happy that I could do what I did last week on the 200: launch myself of the turn. So I could pass the other girl and we won the relay. Because the whole team did well we won the competition and we will stay in the superleague.”
